Dr. Victor J. K. Benebo is the pioneering Managing Director of Phillips Health Management Services Limited (Phillips HMO). Before then, has been the Founder and CEO ofa Management Consulting Firm in Nigeria. He was also the Chief ExecutiveOfficer till May, 2017 of a leading and first‐generation Health MaintenanceOrganizations in Nigeria with national spread and accreditation by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Has over 28 years professional experience and has been involved in the growth and development of the healthinsurance/managed care industry in Nigeria for over two decades now, with a keen interest in Healthcare Quality Management, Risk Management and Strategic Management.
Dr Benebo has had several trainings within Nigeria and abroad. He has an MBA, a Distinction grade in PGD‐Management and was the best student in his class in the program jointly run by the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered)/Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile‐Ife.
Also, he has a Postgraduate certificate in Quality Management in International Health from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He is also a trained and certified Assessor of the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) – Excellence Model, from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), a Fellow, Chattered Management Institute ‐ FCMI (UK), Fellow, Institute of Healthcare Finance and Management; Fellow, Institute for Health Insurance and Managed Care, Member of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua), International Member of the American College of Healthcare Executive (ACHE) and has contributed to their International Newsletter, among other professional bodies. He is a Trainer and Speaker at local and International events.
Dr Benebo significantly contributed to the growth of his previous HMO (which he joined since 2001, pioneered the opening and successful operations of the northern zonal office, plus opening of branch offices) and to the Nigerian HealthInsurance Industry in general, including the start‐up process of the NHIS in 2004/2005 (working in various committees) via his vast experience in the industry for over 21 years. He is a recipient of the Development in Nigeria Merit Award (DINMA) – Healthcare Delivery Category, 2009. He is an alumnus of the prestigious World Bank Institute and the Lagos Business School (Pan African University). He is a Consultant in Healthcare Financing, Quality and Management, among others. He is happily married with children.
