Christopher Babatunde Bajowa, Managing Director & CEO, FCMB Pensions Limited

Christopher Babatunde Bajowa is the Managing Director & CEO of FCMB Pensions Limited. He has over 28 years of dynamic experience spanning banking, business consultancy, and pension fund administration. He is a leader recognized for driving transformative growth and innovation. His illustrious career is rooted in a strong academic foundation, holding a BSc in Economics and Politics (1989), an MSc in Maritime Studies (1991), and an MBA (1992) — all from the prestigious University of Wales, United Kingdom. Further enhancing his expertise, he earned a distinction in Project Appraisal and Risk Management from Duke University, USA, in 2011.

Christopher began his professional journey in 1995 at the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank (now Bank of Industry) as a Senior Investment Officer. His tenure in the banking industry saw him excel in diverse roles, ranging from corporate and project finance to international banking, structured trade finance, and business development. He held several senior leadership positions in top-tier Nigerian banks, including; Group Head, Project and Specialized Finance Group at Diamond Bank Plc, Group Head, Corporate Finance at Access Bank Plc and later Group Head, Global Finance Institution at Bank PHB and Keystone Bank.

His strategic acumen extended beyond banking when he transitioned into business consultancy in 2011 as Principal Partner at Plas Pamir Investment Company Limited. His commitment to excellence led him to FCMB Pensions Limited in 2013 as Executive Director. After demonstrating remarkable leadership, he was appointed Acting Managing Director & CEO in January 2021, and his full appointment followed in October 2021.

As Managing Director, Christopher has been instrumental in revolutionizing FCMB Pensions’ offerings, championing innovation, and prioritizing customer-centric solutions to deliver exceptional value.

He is the current president of Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp).
