Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has pocketed a massive payout after correctly predicting Nigeria’s opening game at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The DMW Records boss placed a wager on the Super Eagles’ Group C clash against Tanzania, forecasting that both sides would find the back of the net. His prediction proved accurate as Nigeria triumphed 2–1 in a thrilling contest at Fes on Tuesday.
Ademola Lookman’s late strike sealed the win for the Super Eagles, ensuring Davido’s bet delivered a handsome return. Reports suggest the superstar earned $96,564 — roughly ₦150 million — from the wager.
Nigeria dominated possession for much of the encounter but were stunned when Tanzania grabbed the opener against the run of play. The Eagles responded with resilience, equalizing before Lookman’s decisive goal completed the comeback.
With this victory, Nigeria sits in a strong position in Group C as they aim for a record fourth AFCON crown. The Super Eagles will now turn their focus to their next group opponents, determined to build on their winning start and secure a place in the knockout stages.
