The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) has entered into a landmark partnership with Sytemap Technologies Limited, aimed at transforming land and property transactions across the country through digital innovation.
For decades, Nigerians have grappled with the risks of buying land or property, often facing disputed titles, multiple sales of the same plot, and protracted court battles. The new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between REDAN and Sytemap seeks to eliminate these challenges by introducing a trusted digital framework for real estate dealings.
According to a joint statement released on Thursday, the collaboration will merge REDAN’s extensive network of verified developers with Sytemap’s cutting-edge digital infrastructure. The system is designed to streamline property listing, verification, mapping, and transactions nationwide.
Industry experts estimate that Nigeria loses more than ₦36 trillion annually due to untitled and disputed land assets—resources that could otherwise drive housing delivery, infrastructure growth, and economic expansion. In urban hubs such as Lagos and Ogun, land-related fraud remains rampant, with hundreds of thousands of cases reported each year.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, REDAN President Oba Akintoye Adeoye emphasized the importance of restoring trust in the real estate sector.
“This partnership is about rebuilding confidence. When developers, buyers, and regulators operate on a trusted digital foundation, everyone benefits—from ordinary Nigerians purchasing their first home to institutional investors funding large-scale projects,” he said.
Under the agreement, REDAN will facilitate the onboarding of its registered developers onto RightHOME, a unified digital platform that ensures verified listings and standardized practices. Sytemap will provide the secure technological backbone, including digital mapping, transaction monitoring, and fraud-prevention tools, to guarantee credibility and traceability of properties.
For everyday Nigerians, the benefits are expected to be far-reaching: fewer disputes, clearer ownership records, and faster transaction timelines. Developers, meanwhile, stand to gain from reduced friction, enhanced buyer confidence, and a more transparent operating environment.
Sytemap’s Chief Executive Officer, Nnamdi Uba, described the partnership as the culmination of years of groundwork in the sector.
“This is not just about technology. It’s about dignity, security, and peace of mind for people investing their life savings. REDAN’s endorsement signals that the industry is ready for a better way,” he noted.
The MoU was signed by Sytemap’s Chief Operating Officer, Ndifreke Ikokpu, and RightHOME’s Chief Executive Officer, Cholatte Odunlade-Akeji, representing the special purpose vehicle.
The REDAN–Sytemap alliance marks a significant step toward trust, accountability, and digital transformation in Nigeria’s real estate industry—one of the nation’s most vital economic sectors.
